MANILA, PHILIPPINES — September 2026 — An afternoon that feels good because it does good.
This Global Deaf Awareness Month, The Heart at Play Foundation, Inc. (THP) and Kidlat Dance Studio are coming together for an afternoon of learning, movement, and meaningful connection through “Say It With Filipino Sign Language,” an interactive, beginner-friendly workshop that introduces participants to Filipino Sign Language (FSL) through an engaging experience that incorporates dance cues.
This will be held on September 27, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Kidlat Dance Studio in Greenhills, San Juan City.
Open to beginners, the workshop will teach fundamental Filipino Sign Language signs and phrases, including greetings, self-introductions, and conversational phrases. Beyond learning individual signs, participants will be encouraged to practice FSL in a fun and supportive setting while developing a greater understanding and appreciation of Deaf culture, communication, and inclusion.
Leading the session is FSL Trainer and member of the Deaf community, Ms. Krizza Cuguyan, with interpretation provided by Mx. Rona dela Rama.
The workshop welcomes students, professionals, and individuals from all walks of life. No previous experience in FSL or dance is necessary—participants only need an openness to learning and a desire to spend an afternoon engaging with others in a meaningful way.
This is a class-for-a-cause because proceeds from “Say It With Filipino Sign Language” will be supports programs of The Heart at Play Foundation, Inc., an SEC-registered non-government organization dedicated to serving children with developmental disabilities from underserved families in Metro Manila.
For Kidlat Dance Studio, the workshop is another opportunity to put inclusion into action: creating a space where people of different ages and abilities can come together through movement, learn from one another, and experience the joy of connection.
Sometimes doing good can look like learning a new language, moving together, sharing an afternoon, and knowing that your participation helps support a cause that matters.
Participants will receive a free drink of choice and a chance to join a raffle as part of the afternoon’s activities.
