OTW to Nature’s Highway (Mangatarem, Daang Kalikasan)

This might actually be one of the most scenic routes you can take that’s just a few hours away from the city.

Daang Kalikasan, which directly translates to Nature Road or Nature’s Highway, is eye-candy for those looking for a picturesque drive with friends, your special someone, the family, or even for that much needed solo-drive away from the city — but not too far away that it gets exhausting to drive to.

Daang Kalikasan is just 3 hours away from Manila and the road itself is sandwiched between scenic views of the mountains and trees. See photos for reference.

It starts from Mangatarem, Pangasinan and once finished, will take you to Santa Cruz, Zambales in a little below 60KM.

It’s hard not to stop for a while and take the cool fresh mountainside air in! The roads are wide enough to allow cars to stop on the sides and just admire the view, and as of writing, there are not much cars passing by, but there are quite a number of motorists who pass through to take photos, but it doesn’t get too crowded.

Daang Kalikasan is partially open to the public, but the completion of the road is targeted for 2021 according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
