PICTURE THIS: You’re in a gorgeous resort in an equally gorgeous place. There’s music, there’s laughing, and the night is alive. You step foot on fine sand, breath in the cool breeze, and take your seat to divulge in what could only make this moment better—food.

Kermit Surf Resort Siargao’s restaurant is enough reason to visit the place alone. The walls are painted with colourful graffiti and the tables are dark wood in true country-style fashion. A sign on the wall reads “Impatient people are still not allowed here,” and we get why—because Kermit takes their sweet time preparing, mixing, frying, baking, and toasting everything to perfection.Shot by Waltz Siy with Sony RX100V

Let’s talk about the breakfast staples. Kermit has a separate breakfast menu consisting of the basic omelette, garlic bread, chorizo, fruit bowl, fried rice, fresh fruit shakes, coffee, and more. Trust us, though, there’s nothing basic about the taste and the way everything is plated.

Moving on to the savory part of the menu, Kermit’s offerings are pretty overwhelming—Italian brick fire pizzas, pastas, seafood, and Filipino-Asian-Italian meals. You must try the Risotto al Tartufo, a delicious symphony of risotto, truffle cream, and thick slices of parma ham. Then, there’s the Pan-seared Tuna, cooked medium rare laid atop a bed of chilli and olive oil-seasoned vegetables.

Kermit lets you create your own pizzas by selecting your base (pizza, calzone, focaccia) and toppings. Go crazy or stick with the classic cheese, all ingredients are of premium quality sourced from Italy or the local organic farm which assures you nothing but the best.

If you absolutely love your rice like we do, try the Squid Adobo sautéed in soy sauce and vinegar (the way Siargaonians cook it) and the Scaloppina al Marsala which is chicken fillet drenched in butter and Marsala wine.

Sandwiches aren’t to be overlooked. It’s quite difficult, especially when you’re served the opulent Salmon Bagel which is crusted with black sesame seeds and gooey eggs, served with a side of potato chips or potato wedges. The Four Cheese Panini also deserves your attention. Take one bite and the cheese oozes out in an addictive, irresistible mess.

On a lighter note, the Herb Crusted Mahi-Mahi is a refreshing Mediterranean couscous-infused meal. There’s also the Greek Salad & Quinoa for those who are all about the green life.
Here’s a pro-tip: Don’t skip out on the Crispy Fries. It’s the best plate of fries you’ll ever have in your life.

For dessert, we’d recommend the Chocolate Lava Cake. It may seem like your typical lava cake, but once you break that top layer and gorg on the cocoa filling, you won’t be able to stop. The vanilla ice cream on the side makes for the perfect mouth-watering hot-and-cold combination.

Up for some drinks? Kermit’s Restaurant also holds Happy Hour from 4 PM to 7 PM daily and 4 PM to closing time on Fridays. They serve cocktails, beer, wine, and pretty much everything for any type of drinker in your group.

We could go on and on about Kermit’s delectable fusion of dishes, but it’s something you have to experience for yourself. TBH, we’re still dreaming about those crispy fries.
