6 Reasons to Fly to Siargao

Oh, Siargao, surfing capital of the Philippines and home to fine, white sand beaches that are too stunning to not experience. Located in Surigao Del Norte in Mindanao, Siargao is probably one of the dreamiest and most sought travel destinations in the country—and for good reasons.

1. Kermit Surf Resort Siargao (a destination on its own)

Budget isn’t an issue in Siargao. There are many hostels that offer affordable to more high-end prices depending on how much you want to splurge, but Kermit Surf Resort Siargao along General Luna in particular offers high-class accommodation for every kind of budget, ranging from 950php to 2,000php per night.

If what you’re after is to immerse yourself in Siargao and its culture, this resort is your best bet. 2. Surfing

You can’t go to Siargao without surfing—at Cloud 9, especially. The famous boardwalk to the surf house gives you a stunning view of the vast ocean and its glimmering turquoise water. Don’t worry about being a beginner, the instructors are genuinely friendly and can even handle Go Pros for your perfect IG shot.

3. The beaches are will absolutely take your breath away.

If Siargao is famous for one thing, it would be the gorgeous, untouched beaches dotting its beautiful islands. Fine white sand, thick stream of palm trees, the clearest and bluest waters…but enough from us, we’ll let the photos do you the convincing.

4. The many heart-racing water activities!

Apart from surfing, Siargao is also home to several water activities such as diving, snorkelling, stand up paddling, and more. Check out some dive spots as Siargao’s seas are rich in untouched marine life and trust us when we say that the view down under is one you wouldn’t want to miss.

5. There’s a lot more than see than beaches.

While its many beaches are must-sees, there are also other sights that are you should visit, including the famous Magpupungko Beach and Tidal Pools. The pools are definitely a sight to behold with its glassy green water surrounded by exquisite rock formations. Float your worries away and take that popular shot on the middle of the pool, or climb the giant rocks in the middle and dive—either way, you’re bound for a deliciously fun time.

If you’re up for a bit of work out, head over to the fascinating wildlife reserve of mangroves found in Del Carmen and stand up paddle, kayak, or simply ride a banca. It may seem scary at first, but once you find your balance and start moving forward, you’ll be amazed at the serenity of the Pacific water amidst the thick stretch of mangroves. Fun fact: the mangrove forest houses several endangered species of flora and fauna, may it be wetland or terrestrial areas. Locals would even tell you that a huge saltwater crocodile roams its waters.

6. The provincial charm will draw you in.

There are many places in this country that give off that calming provincial charm, but Siargao’s is different. There’s something about stepping foot on its virgin beaches and the cool breeze that draws you in and makes you not want to go. Maybe it’s the relief from the bustling city life, or the sense of adventure one only gets from exploring an unfamiliar place, but there’s nothing  quite like the simple—yet understated—feeling of being completely free.

…but the nightlife isn’t to be underestimated. The province may be chill af, but the nightlife isn’t one to be missed out on as well. From chillnumans to walwal nights, the people know how to party and how to party hard.
