Nothing beats eating in the comfort of your home, but if you’re looking for a perfect place to have lunch out with the family, then these are not so common restaurants worth your time.
FISH AND CO.
If you are looking for a casual restaurant that serves fresh seafood in a pan, then Fish and Co. is your best bet. It’s a breeze to choose from their menu because they offer specific signature dishes, unlike their counterparts, where you will be bombarded by their list of food to eat.
They are not limited to “fish and chips” only but rather offer meat, pasta, wok bowls, and even shareable platters that can accommodate even a family of five.
BEST-LOVED: We enjoyed FRIED CALAMARI (P495) paired with flavorsome garlic mayonnaise and HERB CRUSTED SALMON (P525) topped with delectable mushroom cream sauce, with seafood rice, vegetables, and salmon.
Location: Level 4, Garden Restaurants, Trinoma Mall, Quezon City
Operating Hours: Mon-Sun 10am-8pm
LA CREPERIE
Definitely not your typical café since it can cater from a hearty breakfast up to a nightcap of wine. The ambience has a welcoming feel with a touch of Parisian vibes. Aside from their main dish, pasta, and soup, a must-try is the SAN GINES (P165), a Spanish-style (yup, you read that right) extra-thick chocolate goodness that will encourage you to order another cup.
BEST-LOVED: They offer a plethora of flavored crepes, and we settled for DOUBLE CHOCOLATE FUDGE BROWNIE (P345) with bittersweet chocolate and vanilla ice cream. Certainly rated a 10/10.
Location: Phase 1 Level 1 Vertis North, North Avenue, Quezon City
Operating Hours: Mon-Thu 9am-9pm Fri-Sun 9am-10pm
DELGADO 112
A hidden gem Filipino-Spanish restaurant along Tomas Morato. They provide delish foods that will never fail your palate. Try their GAMBAS (P425) as it is served with tomatoes, topped with lemon, swimming in aromatic oil that will savor your every bite. We also recommend DELGADO CLASSIC PIZZA (P450), which lets you choose from all meat, four cheese, veggie lovers, and Hawaiian. You may also try to pair it with their signature PASTA ALA DELGADO (P440), a simple pasta with light flavors.
BEST-LOVED: They have a quaint bar tucked under the main dining floor (the gold room) if you’re looking for drinks while enjoying the music.
Location: 112 Delgado St. Tomas Morato Ave., Quezon City
Operating Hours: Sun-Thu 11am-12mn Fri-Sat 11am-2am
MANAM COMFORT FILIPINO
Tired of eating the same old foreign flavors? Then head on to this family-friendly Filipino restaurant that will remind you of homecooked meals with a twist.
Never leave without trying SUGAR GLAZED CORNED BEEF BELLY SILOG (P298) since it offers a different kind of corned beef partnered with egg, tomato, and garlic rice.
TURON OF MANGO AND KESONG PUTI WITH ICE CREAM (P150) is a thumbs up in the dessert section. Imagine mixing turon with ice cream along with mango syrup is truly heaven.
BEST-LOVED: PANCIT PALABOK (P185 for small order) is an eye candy because it’s served densely, and then you will notice that it somehow was given a new personality when poured with shrimp stock sauce.
Location: Ground Level Garden Restaurants, Trinoma Mall, Quezon City
Operating Hours: Mon-Sun 10am-10pm
SUKIYA
Finally available in the Philippines, Sukiya, the biggest gyudon chain in Japan, provides a variety of tastes like SPICY GYUDON, KIMCHI GYUDON, and SOFT-BOILED EGG GYUDON that did not let us down. Those who enjoy Japanese cuisine need not worry; in addition to rice bowls, this restaurant serves URON-CHA (Japanese tea), which is water combined with tea and typically offered with every meal in Japan. Other Japanese dishes include BEEF YAKINIKU, TERIYAKI JAPANESE CHICKEN, and HOKKAIDO PORK BOWL.
BEST-LOVED: Highly recommended is MELTED CHEESE GYUDON (P195 for small). Indeed, the greatest combination is beef gyudon and melted cheese.
Location: SM Megamall B 3F EDSA cor. Dona Julia Vargas Ave., Ortigas, Mandaluyong City
Operating Hours: Mon-Sun 10am-11pm
There you have it! I hope you have a memorable dining experience with your loved ones.
