Hello! You clicked this. That means you want to brew better coffee at home. Correct? You’re probably new to coffee and don’t know where to start, or you just want to improve your brewing skills and learn how to make your coffee taste better. Either way, we’re here to help. So, let’s start!
HERE ARE 5 TIPS TO MAKE BETTER COFFEE AT HOME:
1. Freshly Roasted Beans
This is where it all starts. When brewing coffee, the freshness of the beans are really important. The fresher your coffee beans are, the better the taste. Coffee’s flavor starts to peak just days after it has been roasted and should be consumed within a month of its roast date. So when you buy coffee at your local market, make sure to ask what the roast date is, so you’ll know if the coffee they’re selling to you is still fresh.
Additional tip: Buy freshly roasted whole beans. Not grounded. This would keep the coffee freshness longer.

2. Store your beans properly
You bought freshly roasted coffee beans. Great! But is there a right way to store them? YES! Coffee’s one of those things that gets stale very fast. Store them in an airtight container to keep it fresh, and in good shape. If you have the budget, go and buy that airtight storage.
But you know what, here’s a tip: Mason Jars will also do the trick and it’s cheaper!Â

3. Grind Size & Your grinder are really really important!
Invest in a good grinder. We repeat. Invest in a good grinder. This will really affect the taste of your coffee. No matter how great your coffee beans are, you will never get that perfect cup of coffee with the wrong grind size or a grinder that doesn’t do the job well.
When your grind size is too coarse, your coffee becomes under-extracted and can taste weak or sour. On the other hand, having a grind size that is too fine, can make your coffee over-extracted and will taste bitter.
When buying a grinder, make sure you’re not just buying any regular grinder in the market, but investing in a burr grinder. The burr grinder or burr mill is made up of two revolving burrs in between which the coffee is ground. This machine gives you a chance to create your favorite coffee beverage by grinding beans at the appropriate consistency required for each drink.

4. The coffee recipe matters
A coffee recipe will guide you through the extraction process and give you a great base to start. It will determine how much ground coffee goes in your coffee machine and how long it takes till the coffee is brewed. But don’t fret! It takes time and lots of coffee brews to get that perfect cup so go ahead, experiment, and create your own recipes!
If you’re just starting out, you can always research about this. Barista experts have already done the experimenting for you. Try binge-watching James Homann’s YouTube channel. He’s a great barista expert and you’ll learn a lot from him.

5. Lastly, enjoy the process
Sometimes brewing coffee can be a bit intimidating and it could make us feel discouraged when the coffee turns out bad. We feel you, and it took us many failed cups of brewed coffee before we had that perfect cuppa joe!
Making coffee can make you feel relaxed and energized at the same time. It shouldn’t feel difficult, but in fact something you find enjoyable. While your coffee is brewing, you may focus on other things like taking in the aroma of freshly roasted beans or listening to your favorite music, or just practicing being present. You’ll notice once you let go of the pressure of creating the perfect cup and just enjoy the process, your coffee would taste a lot better. Make those coffee moments one of the highlights of your everyday life.
So, now that you know all of these, here’s to brewing better coffee at home. #CoffeeCheers!Â
