Back in 2020, more than 200 of McDonald’s Party Areas were transformed into McClassrooms. We remember this, because the generous act itself became viral on social media and a lot of people–especially teachers and students–thanked McDonald’s for the incredibly helpful gesture during a very difficult and challenging time. Back then, most schools were still closed and any outside movement was still quite limited. At the home front, students and teachers struggled to focus with small spaces, bad internet connection and other distractions.
Last March 28, McDonald’s once again opened their doors with the McDonald’s Night Classroom program in 60 participating McDonald’s stores near several key universities from 8 PM to 6 AM daily. This truly kind act was done to help students have a conducive and safe learning environment to review and do their assignments or projects.
For students to have uninterrupted study sessions, the McDonald’s Night Classroom provides them with solo study and large table arrangements, as well as quick and dependable free WiFi powered once again by Smart Communications Inc.
In a press release, James Jorge, AVP and Head of Smart Broadband and Consumer WiFi at Smart, said that they were delighted to partner with McDonald’s again. “We at Smart are glad to be part once again of McDonald’s Night Classroom, an innovative and meaningful project in the service of Filipino teachers and students. By providing world-class connectivity, we aim to empower them to make the most of their teaching and learning moments and truly live more today,” he shared.
With the Night Classroom, students now have a convenient and relaxing space to do their academic work, allowing them to be as productive as possible.
In the same press release, McDonald’s Philippines Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Oliver Rabatan, mentioned that this was another way for them to support students in their own way. He said, “McDonald’s has always been a safe and trusted space to create feel-good moments for all— whether you’re a family eating out, an employee getting their coffee fix before work, or a student looking for a place to pull an all-nighter. Students have made McDonald’s as their go-to place for meetings or study sessions, so McDonald’s Night Classroom is another way for us to be there for them and support them with their schoolwork.”
McDonald’s is also giving out free meals c/o Coca Cola, and promo vouchers c/o Angkas for first time users of the App.
Frankly, we love how McDonald’s is making studying convenient and even fun for students.
