The sky is clear, the cool breeze hits you, and an endless lush landscape of grass and hills greets you upon entrance. There’s a pristine, vast lake that initially meets the eye, with expert riders giving you all sorts of goose bumps out of their sleek tricks. Step into the sunshine and let it bathe your face in its warm and welcoming gesture. Close your eyes, breathe the fresh air, and take it all in.

Pradera Verde, a wakeboard park way up north Lubao, Pampanga, is known for its high-class facilities and exquisite views. If you leave the city early enough, it’s a mere 2-3 hour drive from Manila via NLEX, perfect for a weekend trip.

There’s no better place that stays true to Pradera Verde’s motto than them: Play and celebrate life’s endless passions. It’s a haven for the adrenaline-junkies and extreme sports-lovers alike. However, if you’re the type who’s more comfortable on the sidelines, the resort offers that, too—with large, comfortable, round chairs to boot. There are more than a few reasons to visit Pradera Verde, but here are the six best ones:

  1. Wakeboarding is an exhilarating, heart-racing sport everyone should try at least once. Photo by: Taryn Navarro

Don’t be deceived by how easy seasoned riders make it look. The practice lakes for beginners are at the back near the villas. There’s no need to worry about not knowing how to swim or trying out the sport for the first time. Pradera Verde makes sure that its instructors are friendly, helpful, and encouraging enough to teach you the proper form and grip on the rope’s handle. Be warned though: once you make it to end of the lake, you’ll find it difficult to stop swimming back and forth until you no longer tip over and fall. Hey, it’s not a rare case to be able to do rounds on the pro-lake after only a few hours of practice. Just remember to squat, lock those arms in, and—we can’t stress this enough—don’t pull!

From villas that can rival the luxe interiors of hotel rooms, to breathtakingly beautiful The Sound Of Music-ish hills, to the stunning view of the glistening water, down to the bicycles available for use, everything and everywhere seems like a perfect backdrop for photos.

3. Apart from the wakeboard experience, golf is also another pride of Pradera Verde.

It’s a short ride to the Country Club and Golf Course where, surprisingly, is a rather posh building with a bar, restaurant, function room, massage room, gym, and a game room.  Golf carts are readily available for rent, while caddies are on stand-by and are more than happy to assist guests. Did we mention that there’s no membership and it’s open to the public? Just make sure you’re in proper golfing attire.

4.The resort holds so much space.

With over 300 hectares of land, it’s impossible to feel as cramped as Manila on rush hour. There are around 80 deluxe rooms and 15 villas available for day tours or overnight accommodations, all of which are equipped with high-speed WiFi with either King, Triple-Beds, or both.

5. The Viewdeck Restaurant serves some mean sisig…and bulalo, longganisa, chopsuey, inihaw na isda, and a lot more. Photo by: Taryn Navarro

Have a refreshing mango shake after an exhausting stint on the wakeboarding lake. The iced coffee is a definite winner in our book, too.

6. “No filter” has never been more real.

With mountains capped with clouds and its natural provincial charm, the resort affords you a gorgeous view of the sun rising and setting, straight from your villa.

The best thing about Pradera Verde is its subdued elegance—the kind that offers genuine relaxation and an all-around stress-relief for guests. There’s no science to the success of the resort, nor is there a hard-sell in-your-face marketing strategy to drive guests in. What Pradera Verde is about—and what other boisterous, flashy resorts should realize—is that there’s no better selling point than a memorable, exciting, and remarkably fun experience. That of which, Pradera Verde has in spades—bruises, sore muscles, laugh lines, and all.
