Oh, Philippines! A country with a never-ending list of places to go to, sights to see, and things to do, so we’ve taken it upon ourselves to give you four of the best breathtaking (and picturesque) activities in the Pearl of the Orient Seas.
- Experience the majestic sardine run in Moalboal, Cebu.
Whether you’re an experienced diver or a rookie, we guarantee that you’ll enjoy snorkelling with the sardines over at Moalboal. Here, the deep blue waters are home to thriving coral reefs and a rich marine life. The sardines typically run near the shore and are used to having an audience, so you can watch thousands of them swim freely in their natural habitat. If you’re lucky, you might even spot some sea turtles.

DM insider tip: There are many reported cases of jellyfish stings, so it’s best to wear a rashguard. Safety is key!
- Hike and greet the sunrise at Mt. Pulag.
The famous sea of clouds is best viewed at the summit of Mt. Pulag. To reach the highest point of Luzon, you’ll have to trek through vast forests of pine trees, moss, and grasslands, which lets you fully immerse in nature.
- Go beyond Boracay to the pristine shores of Carabao Island, Romblon.
About an hour away from Boracay down to the southernmost island of Romblon is its “twin sister”, Carabao Island or locally known as Hambil Beach. White sand lined with coconut trees, this place is for those who’d rather spend their day in solitude.
You can get here from Kalibo, Caticlan, or Romblon, so it’s not that hidden, but it still remains peaceful and relatively untouched.
- Experience the thrilling 4×4 ride or sandboarding at Laoag Sand Dunes.
For the adrenaline junkies, head over to La Paz Sand Dunes in Laoag, Ilocos Norte. From afar, it looks like a barren desert, but the entire landscape paves way for some thrilling 4×4 rides and a sandboarding area. Remember to put on sunscreen, hold on tight, bring your sunglasses, and maybe even a facemask. Your barkada will surely enjoy all the adventure rides here.
